Pro – Renal Foundation of Brazil was established in 1984 by the physician nephrologist Miguel Carlos Riella. It is a philanthropic organization which began with the main purpose of supporting research in kidney and metabolic diseases. Later, aware of the needs of patients with chronic renal failure,patients on dialysis or transplanted, began to provide patient assistance through free consultation at the Foundation’s ambulatory facility, distributing food baskets, medications, etc. Over the last few years another area of activity has been on campaigns for prevention of chronic kidney disease.Through Health Fairs, the Foundation has been able to screen more than 11.000 individuals in the last few years.
Her activities are currently based in southern Brazil where its headquarters are located.Funds are obtained from donations of the community and it receives no public funds.
